My Life

Let me introduce myself. My name is Stacy Michalec, I’m a Wife, a Mother and a Flight attendant. I’m also a fitness lover and up until this last June 14th, 2014 I was a marathon runner too.  The many faces I put on are not unlike anyone else. I’m sure you are like me, trying to find a healthy balance for having it all: Family, Friends, Career and staying healthy. I chose to start Fitnessbystacyjo because I know there are many out there just like me and I want to connect with you! If you can relate to any of my posts or blogs please contact me and let me know how I can help you: An introduction to my life:

I’m a fitness lover and Runner. I try my hardest to keep myself motivated and recently became a Beachbody Coach so I could help others in this area of their life too. I’m not a personal trainer or a nutritionist, but I‘ve studied enough of it to feel like I could help people that need it. Ever heard that if you study something for 12 years that you are considered an “Expert”. I have 12 years+ in learning about nutrition and fitness and I’m STILL learning. I’ve ran 10 marathons and several half marathons.  My fitness goals have changed so I’m not much of a distance runner anymore. Plus I found that workouts like 21 Day FixT25, and P90X3 can give me the same results as running did. Now I focus more on weight training, plyometrics and yoga to get the results I want. I still love the occasional run and will most likely do more half marathons in the future.

I’m a Wife and Mother. I married a wonderful man and he and I have an adorable 2 year old son and 7 month old daughter! They are my world and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. My husband, Benji and I are a lot alike when it comes to fitness and eating healthy. We have run together and most recently he and I did a Tough Mudder Race. It was fun to do more than just running. We are both very social, but becoming parents have slowed us both down. Neither of us mind, Xander and Charli gives us more joy then I can even begin to explain. We have the challenge of trying to stay healthy and fit with our new life as parents, but so far we are making it work.

I am a Flight Attendant. This has been my career for the past 14 years and I love it. I didn’t realize the challenges that I would face when I first started. I knew being away from friends and family would be one, but the real challenges came when I had to start figuring out how to work out and eat healthy on the road. I gained 50 lbs my first year of flying! YES, 50 POUNDS! Only after signing up for a vacation that would require a swimsuit the whole time did I buckle down and try to lose the weight. I still wasn’t super skinny or fit by the time that vacation came. I wasn’t very healthy on how I lost my weight, but I knew that I wanted to continue on the path of losing weight and so I had to learn how to eat right and workout. I couldn’t keep treating my body so badly.

Finding time to workout with these little rugrats is tough work some days! One is sleeping while the other is wide awake. In the middle of my workouts my 2 year old son is handing me his toilet seat cause we are potty training. He’s climbing on me while I do planks, cause planks aren’t hard enough I need the extra 25 lbs on my back. But I love that he thinks its fun to “kick” with me in the basement. And if she’s with me she giggles as I jump around like a mad woman! It’s all good, just another day for this workout Mama!!

I chose to become a Beachbody Coach because it just felt natural. After having my son in Sept 2013 I knew that I had to get back into shape and I first thought I would do P90X. That was the workout that always worked for me and gave me good results. However, I didn’t have as much time as I used to. That’s when I learned about T25. It seemed to be something I would like to do. I also wanted to get back into drinking my Shakeology shakes. I knew that would be on the fast track to reclaiming my body plus how else am I going to cram 70 superfoods in my day? It only made sense for me to become a coach. At first I did it just to get the discount. Once I lost 30lbs of baby weight I started hearing from friends asking how they could lose weight too. So now, I’m an official Coach! Staying accountable, helping others and making additional money so I can stay home with my family seemed like a WIN WIN!
